An attorney at the Law Office of Jamie B. Naini, Ms. Gaines is a 2000 graduate of the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, and a 1986 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. Ms. Gaines graduated in the top 20% of her law school class, was a member of the Phi Delta Phi Honor Legal Fraternity, the moot court team, and received the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence for Child Advocacy. She also served as a judicial clerk for the Shelby County Criminal Court Judges and as a law clerk for the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office.
Before becoming an immigration lawyer, Ms. Gaines worked as a commissioned National Bank Examiner for the Comptroller of the Currency, a division of the United States Treasury, and as an Assistant District Attorney for the State of Tennessee. She also volunteered as an Ombudsman with the United States Department of Defense providing counseling and assistance to the U.S. Armed Forces.
Since joining the Law Office of Jamie B. Naini, Ms. Gaines has gained extensive experience in a wide variety of immigration issues. She has advised on, prepared, and filed countless Non-Immigrant and Immigrant Visa Petitions as well as I-130 and I-140 Immigrant Petitions with accompanying Adjustment of Status (I-485) Applications, Political Asylum, Marriage Cases, Naturalization/Citizenship, Agricultural, 245(I), Life Act, CSPA, Removal of Conditions, Criminal and Overstay Waivers, and CIMT Defense. Ms. Gaines has succeeded for her clients in Deportation and Removal Proceedings, Asylum, Employment Based Visa Petitions, Business Immigration Visas, and Family Based Immigration Petitions. Ms. Gaines is a regular litigator before the Federal Immigration Courts in Memphis, Tennessee; Oakdale, Louisiana; Atlanta, Georgia; Harlingen, Texas; and Chicago, Illinois. Ms. Gaines also handles appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals as well as the United States Circuit Courts.
